If you’re on X for more than 2 seconds, you’ll see many theories about what is and isn’t “appropriate” in relationships and how each sex is supposed to behave when it comes to dating. The majority of what you’ll see comes from women who are (I don’t like this next word, but it fits perfectly) coping with their less-than-ideal romantic and sexual situations, and men who are naive or cowardly enough to go along with it. Being able to spot the difference between an objective point of view and a temper-tantrum isn’t easy. Much of ‘gender discourse’ is an online phenomenon, but the spirit underneath it also takes shape in the real world.
There’s a long list of societal events that brought us to where we are now. I’ll give a few examples in chronological order:
Bill Clinton: In 1998, President Bill Clinton got caught cheating on his wife by getting a blowjob from his secretary. This opened up the yapping about ‘power dynamics.’
‘I Don’t Need No Man’ Feminism: American culture in the late 90’s and early 2000’s was packed with sassy women who portrayed themselves as strong, indepdendent and ‘don’t need no man.’ No Scrubs by TLC, Independent Women by Destiny’s Child, Legally Blonde and Sex and the City just to name a few examples. All of this served to ‘take men down a peg’ without acknowledging the psychological torture of not being fucked regularly or opening a pickle jar.
The Fat Positivity Movement - In the mid 2000’s Dove released their “Real Beauty” campaign (Google it if interested, I don’t like to force smut onto people). In the late 2010’s we saw the rise of “plus-sized” models in advertisements. Now we’re still dealing with Lizzo and her consequences. This obviously corrupts everyone’s understanding of objective beauty standards and leaves men less options to choose from.
#MeToo - From the Weinstein scandal in 2017 through COVID, it was open season on any man who ever fucked a girl who could ever potentially accuse him of “abusing his power”, regardless of if he actually did. This put many men on edge and gave rise to the self-owning idea of “toxic masculinity” which lead to the subtle castration of most men.
Trans Goblins - In 2013, the DSM-5 changed the term “Gender Identity Disorder” to “Gender Dysphoria.” In 2015, Bruce Jenner came out as trans and demanded he be called Caitlyn. In 2016, Obama directed public schools to let trans people use whichever bathroom they wanted. Since then, we’ve seen the Biden administration lift Trump’s ban on trans people in the military, Drag Queen Story Hours in libraries across America, and mentally ill public school teachers reading books to children about how to masturbate and give blowjobs. Too many other disgusting examples to name. Children are now required to learn complete lies about how many genders there are. It’s gone completely off the rails.
American culture, which dictates the culture of the western world, has been chipping away at everyone’s understanding of the nature of the opposite sex. Throw in the rise of the overprescribed psychiatric meds, a recession, a pandemic, an inflated currency, a shitty economy and terminal internet addiction and you have the world we see now. Relationships that don’t last or never start. Men and women petrified that the other is going to take advantage of them and attack them, so they set up rules for everyone else in advanced before even taking the first step themselves.
